Joel Embiid is set to miss more games due to injury, continuing a trend for the Philadelphia 76ers. His teammates are feeling the impact.
Embiid will be out for at least the next three games after sustaining an oblique strain during Thursday’s victory over Miami. He will be assessed again following back-to-back home games on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This isn’t new for Embiid, who has participated in only 91 games since the start of the 2023-24 season. Teammate Andre Drummond expressed his concern with a heartfelt comment.
“I want to wrap him in a bubble sheet and give him a hug, man,” Drummond said, via Gina Mizell of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “I just feel like he can’t get a break.”
Many 76ers supporters likely share this sentiment. This isn’t even the first injury for Embiid since the All-Star break. The good news is that this injury doesn’t appear to be associated with his problematic right knee.
As of Sunday, the Sixers hold a 33-26 record this season. While they seem on track for the playoffs, they will need Embiid to be fit to achieve more than that.
