The Los Angeles Lakers are facing some issues in the locker room, with Deandre Ayton’s offensive role at the center of the situation. The team’s recent loss to the Orlando Magic, 110-109, highlighted some growing frustrations.
According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Ayton was not happy with how the game went, even though he had a strong performance, scoring 21 points on 8-11 shooting and grabbing 13 rebounds in 32 minutes.
When asked if his energy should lead to more offensive opportunities, he initially remained calm, suggesting that hard work is usually rewarded. However, as he headed to the showers, his frustration became evident. His comments were loud enough for teammates to hear.
Ayton expressed his feelings about the disparity between his contributions on the court and the opportunities he receives.
“They’re trying to make me Clint Capela. I’m not no Clint Capela.”
