Charlotte Hornets forward Kon Knueppel made headlines during his rookie season on Thursday night.
He scored 20 points in 33 minutes, contributing to the Hornets’ strong 127-107 victory over the Phoenix Suns. However, what stood out was his four three-pointers, which have been a highlight of his season.
Knueppel’s 4-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc allowed him to surpass Kemba Walker’s franchise record for the most three-pointers in a single season. Knueppel now holds the record with 261 three-pointers, edging out Walker’s previous record of 260 set in the 2018-19 season.
Kon Knueppel’s rookie season is even more remarkable
Already recognized for making the most three-pointers by a rookie, his latest record adds to what is considered one of the best rookie seasons in history and strengthens his case for Rookie of the Year.
