LeBron James has made 22 NBA All-Star selections. This impressive tally is so high that it can be hard to grasp its significance.
Starting his career as a teenager from Akron, Ohio, LeBron quickly became a central figure in basketball. His All-Star selections have continued year after year, spanning various teams and eras.
LeBron James Reflects on His All-Star Journey
Now at 41, he remains the oldest active player in the NBA and continues to receive All-Star nods. On the “Mind the Game” podcast, James shared his thoughts on what these 22 appearances mean to him, providing a different perspective.
“It’s humbling, and it’s a blessing. I never set out to achieve ’22 All-Star appearances,’ but I always wanted to be part of the All-Star Game as a kid,” James said. “Watching legends like MJ, Penny, Grant Hill, AI, and Kobe made it seem like such fun. Back then, that was the biggest stage, and now I see new All-Stars each year, and I’m still here.”
“There’s a nostalgic aspect and humility that comes with this. Reflecting on my childhood, I think, ‘Wow, you’re an All-Star again.’ I remember watching it as a teenager and wanting to experience that moment.”
