The NBA announced on Sunday that it has overturned Doncic’s 16th technical foul of the season, allowing him to participate in Monday’s road game against the Detroit Pistons (51-19) at 7 p.m. ET (h/t Yahoo Sports). If the decision had been different, Doncic would have faced a one-game suspension.
Why was Luka Doncic at risk of suspension?
Doncic received his 16th technical foul during the third quarter of a 105-104 victory over the Orlando Magic on Saturday night. This occurred after he and center Goga Bitadze exchanged words while Doncic was taking free throws. Bitadze also received a technical foul.
In a postgame press conference, Doncic stated that Bitadze made threats towards his family, leading him to react angrily. Bitadze denied this accusation.
