The San Antonio Spurs’ Carter Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Jaxson Hayes, the Miami Heat’s Keshad Johnson, and the Orlando Magic’s Jase Richardson will participate in the All-Star Slam Dunk competition, as announced by the league. This event is scheduled for next Saturday at the Clippers’ new Intuit Dome.
All four players will make their debut at this event. Jase Richardson is a rookie guard and has a special connection to the competition; he is the son of two-time Slam Dunk champion Jason Richardson, who won in 2002 and 2003.
The league also revealed the teams for the Shooting Stars competition. Four teams, each composed of two NBA players and one NBA legend, will compete.
- Team All-Star: Scottie Barnes from the Raptors and Chet Holmgren from the Thunder will join three-time All-Star Richard Hamilton.
- Team Cameron: Three Duke University alums will play together, featuring Hawks All-Star Jalen Johnson and Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel, alongside former NBA veteran Corey Maggette.
- Team Harper: Five-time NBA champion Ron Harper Sr. will team up with his sons, Spurs guard Dylan Harper and Celtics swingman Ron Harper Jr.
- Team Knicks: Knicks teammates and All-Stars Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns will be joined by Allan Houston, a two-time NBA All-Star and current member of the Knicks front office.
The Shooting Stars event will follow a two-round format, with all four teams competing in the first round. The top two teams will advance to the final round. Each team will take turns and have 1:10 to score points from seven designated shooting spots on the court, with all three players shooting at each location in order. The team with the highest score in the final round will be declared the champion.
