The Denver Nuggets have a record of 1-3 since center Nikola Jokic returned from a left knee injury, but he continues to achieve triple-doubles.
In a 134-127 double overtime loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, Jokic scored 30 points, collected 14 rebounds, and made 10 assists.
Standing 6-foot-11 and weighing 284 pounds, Jokic is now tied with Hall of Fame guard Oscar Robertson for the second-most triple-doubles (181) in NBA history, only behind Russell Westbrook from the Sacramento Kings (207). According to The Athletic’s Josh Robbins, Jokic reached this milestone in fewer regular-season games (781) than Robertson (1,039).
Last season, Jokic joined Robertson and Westbrook as the only players to average a triple-double in the regular season, and he is on track to do it again. Before Wednesday’s game, the three-time league MVP was averaging 29.1 points per game, 10.5 assists, and 12.1 rebounds. If he maintains this performance, the team should not be overly concerned about its recent struggles.
