In his ninth NBA season, Nuggets guard Jamal Murray is finally getting some well-deserved recognition. On Sunday, he was named to his first All-Star team.

Selected as a reserve, the 28-year-old is averaging 25.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game. The 2025-26 season will be memorable for him as it marks his first All-Star Weekend.

To make the most of the experience, Murray is committed to giving his best effort.

Murray is going to play hard

“I’m ready to play one-on-one; I’m just a competitor,” Murray told reporters when discussing his mindset for the event and the previous criticism about player effort, according to ESPN.

“I want to be known as a player who competes hard every time he’s on the court.”

Nikola Jokic will finally have a teammate join him at All-Star Weekend

Murray’s selection means the Nuggets have two All-Star players in the same season for the first time since 2010, when Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups were both honored. Two-time All-Star Nikola Jokic will be there with him.

Murray also expressed his appreciation for the connection he shares with a standout player like Jokic.
