This week, the focus is on whether the Milwaukee Bucks will trade Giannis Antetokounmpo. Media and analysts are speculating about potential destinations for the two-time MVP.
One NBA analyst believes that the team mostly linked to a trade for Antetokounmpo should not make the move, while another team should do everything to acquire him.
With the NBA trade deadline approaching on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET, ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins shared his thoughts about where Antetokounmpo might land during an appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up.”
Why Kendrick Perkins doesn’t want Knicks to trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo
Perkins thinks the New York Knicks, rumored to be Antetokounmpo’s preferred team, should keep their current lineup without making major changes.
“Giannis wants to be in New York. He wanted to be a Knick before the season started, which is why he reached out to the Bucks in August about wanting to go to the Big Apple,” Perkins said.
However, he still believes New York should avoid trading significant assets for him.
“If I’m New York, I wouldn’t touch it right now because they have one of the deepest teams in the Eastern Conference. With their current roster, they should be able to reach the NBA Finals,” Perkins added.
Which team is Kendrick Perkins’ pick for Giannis Antetokounmpo?
“If I’m looking, the Timberwolves stand out the most to me. We’re talking about Anthony Edwards, who’s having a career year and has been to back-to-back Western Conference Finals. Pairing him with Giannis will create tough competition in the Western Conference,” Perkins concluded.
