The Golden State Warriors will be without Steph Curry for an extended period.
Curry, a two-time MVP, has not played this month due to a knee injury he sustained on January 30 against the Detroit Pistons. Despite the extra rest during the All-Star break, he is still not ready to return.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr spoke to the media on Wednesday, ahead of the game against the Boston Celtics. According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, Kerr mentioned that Curry has not yet returned to practice because he “didn’t feel the knee was ready for a full workout.”
“We need to be certain. He needs to be certain,” Kerr said regarding Curry’s recovery.
Kerr described Curry’s knee issue as “nebulous.”
The Warriors have a record of 6-10 in games without Curry this season. With Jimmy Butler already out for the year, Curry’s absence for a longer time could hurt Golden State’s chances in the playoff race.
On a positive note, newly acquired Kristaps Porzingis may make his debut against the Celtics. Although the team has listed him as questionable, Porzingis stated he is “ready to go” for the game against his former team, which was the plan set by the Warriors’ medical staff leading up to the break.
