Happy 27th birthday to six-time NBA All-Star and 2023-24 scoring champion, Luka Doncic!
Doncic is linked to two major NBA trades. In 2018, he was picked by the Atlanta Hawks on draft night but was traded to the Dallas Mavericks for Trae Young. He quickly became a key player for Dallas, averaging 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game as a rookie, winning the Rookie of the Year award.
During his time with the Mavericks, Doncic averaged 28.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game, helping lead the team to the NBA Finals for the first time since the 2010-11 season. However, just before the 2025 trade deadline, the Mavericks made headlines by trading Doncic to the Lakers in exchange for veteran center Anthony Davis.
Doncic’s first full season with the Lakers has been mixed. The team is currently 10 games above .500, and Doncic’s impressive average of 32.7 points per game leads the NBA. Despite this, the Lakers are only one game ahead of the Phoenix Suns for the last non-Play-In spot in the Western Conference.
