In his fourth NBA All-Star selection, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards secured the All-Star MVP title for the first time as Team Stars triumphed during the weekend.
In a new round-robin tournament with two American teams and one international team, featuring 12-minute games, Edwards started strong with 13 points and two rebounds in a 37-35 win against Team World. He added 11 points and an assist in Team Stars’ only loss, a close 42-40 game against Team Stripes, before bouncing back with eight points, four rebounds, and two assists in a decisive 47-21 victory over Team Stripes to clinch the tournament.
Edwards finished with 32 points, nine rebounds, and three assists in 26 minutes, attributing some of the tournament’s competitive edge to San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama.
“Wembanyama set the tone, and it definitely woke me up,” he said.
