Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg scored 49 points in a 123-121 loss to the Charlotte Hornets, setting an NBA record for a teenager.
Flagg, who is expected to be the first pick in the 2025 draft, made 20 of 29 shots and hit 3 of 5 from three-point range. He faced his former Duke teammate, Kon Knueppel, who scored 34 points for Charlotte.
After the game, former Hornet and current Maverick PJ Washington posted on social media suggesting that Flagg deserves the Rookie of the Year award.
“ROY,” he simply wrote alongside a photo of Flagg.
