Happy 60th birthday to Kevin Johnson, a three-time All-Star, five-time All-NBA selection, and the 1988-89 NBA Most Improved Player!

Johnson was picked seventh overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1987 NBA draft but was traded to the Phoenix Suns as a rookie in exchange for Larry Nance. In his second season, Johnson experienced a significant increase in performance, raising his points-per-game from 9.2 to 20.4 and his assists from 5.5 to 12.2 during the 1987-88 to 1988-89 season. This remarkable improvement earned him the Most Improved Player award while playing for a Suns team that finished with a 55-27 record.

He spent his entire career in Phoenix, achieving a strong NBA legacy. Johnson averaged over 20 points per game in five different seasons and ranks 28th all-time in NBA history with 6,711 career assists.

This leads us to today’s quiz: Can you name all the NBA players who have won the Most Improved Player award in six minutes?
