Oklahoma City has five more games before the break, and superstar guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will miss all of them due to an injury. He could return on February 20 against Brooklyn.
In Tuesday’s win, Gilgeous-Alexander played 28 minutes, scoring 20 points, along with nine assists, five rebounds, and two steals.
The 27-year-old Canadian is having another outstanding season, averaging 31.8 points, 6.4 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.3 steals with impressive shooting stats of .554/.390/.892 in 49 games. He has only missed two games so far, but that number will rise to at least seven due to an abdominal strain.
The defending champion Thunder are currently 40-11, holding the best record in the NBA. With Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams (hamstring strain) out, players like Ajay Mitchell, Cason Wallace, Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins, and soon-to-be-added Jared McCain will likely get more playing time.
