Anthony Davis has been sidelined since January 8 due to ligament damage in his left hand, but he may be close to returning to play.

The Washington Wizards have been monitoring his recovery, and the team recently provided positive updates on his condition.

Washington acquired Davis midseason along with Trae Young, both of whom were recovering from injuries. This move showed the franchise’s approach, as they are not focused on this season but are looking ahead to the 2026-27 timeline while holding onto a protected 2026 first-round pick.

Davis has played 14 seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks. He has career averages of 24.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.3 blocks across 807 games. The 10-time All-Star and NBA champion is nearing his first game as a Wizard.

Wizards give updates on Anthony Davis’s injury

The Wizards shared a new update on Davis’s hand injury on Thursday. They confirmed that he has been re-evaluated this week and has been cleared to start limited individual on-court activities.

The team will conduct another evaluation in two weeks, when they expect to provide further details on his recovery timeline.
