Zion Williamson is quietly increasing his games played this season.

The New Orleans Pelicans forward is set to have $16.9 million of his 2026-27 salary guaranteed by playing in Friday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks, according to NBA salary-cap analyst Yossi Gozlan. This will mark his 41st game of the season, triggering a guarantee of 40 percent of the $42.2 million he is expected to earn next season.

Gozlan notes that Williamson has additional financial incentives this season. He can secure an extra $8.4 million (20 percent) for the 2026-27 season if he appears in 51 games; he could earn another $8.4 million if he plays in 61 games this season.

Williamson, who has struggled with injuries, missed a lot of time earlier this year due to a hamstring injury. However, he is now in the midst of a 30-game appearance streak for the Pelicans, with 26 regular-season games remaining.

Currently, the Pelicans are facing challenges, sitting at 15-41 (14th in the Western Conference). Despite this, there are no concerns about Williamson, who is averaging 21.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game this season.

The former No. 1 overall pick, now 25, has faced various challenges and recently lost a significant endorsement deal. Nevertheless, he is focused on his contract with the Pelicans, which has a unique structure, doing his best to secure his earnings.
