Injuries Hit Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Team Hard

Tottenham Hotspur surprised many with their performance against Manchester City last weekend. After being behind 2-0 at halftime, they made a strong comeback to earn a point, displaying resilience and determination.

However, Spurs are currently facing an injury crisis. Several key players have recently been sidelined. Kevin Danso and Djed Spence were the latest to miss the match against Manchester City last Sunday. Creative players James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski have also been injured since last year, missing their chance to play under Thomas Frank this season.

After the Manchester City match, captain Cristian Romero provided a frank evaluation of the squad’s situation. He subtly criticized the club’s management for only bringing in two new players during the winter transfer window, despite many injuries.

Keith Wyness Believes Tottenham Will Improve with Returning Players

Ongoing injury issues have significantly affected Tottenham’s performance this season. The constant lineup changes have hindered the team’s ability to build stability and momentum, frustrating both the coach and supporters.

Former Aston Villa and Everton CEO Keith Wyness thinks Tottenham will bounce back once all key players are fit. He believes the team is not in danger of relegation and that their performance will improve as injured players return in the coming weeks.

“We discussed whether this was a sign of support for Thomas Frank. Conor Gallagher was a good signing, and he showed his value in the last game,” Wyness stated on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast (h/t Football Insider).

“I was surprised by the length of the injury list; many high-quality players are currently injured for Spurs.”

“The club’s leaders might be thinking about the future. If they invest in someone for 40, 50, or 60 million, what happens when these injured players return? They seem to believe they are not in any real trouble.”

“I don’t think they will face relegation. They need to rebuild, and injuries have disrupted this season. Once players return, Frank will have new life, and the squad will stabilize.”

Tottenham Needed More New Additions

The team’s performance is expected to improve with returning players, bringing stability. However, the current squad might not be strong enough to compete for European spots.

The management missed an opportunity to enhance the squad during the winter transfer window beyond just Gallagher and Souza. This lack of action has left Frank in a tough position, and the board’s inaction may eventually have consequences if results do not improve.
