Scott McTominay has been performing well since he joined Napoli from Manchester United in the summer of 2024.

In his first year, the Scotland international not only helped his team win Serie A but also received the MVP and Player of the Season awards, marking a positive turn in his career away from Old Trafford.

Since transferring, the 29-year-old has scored 22 goals and provided ten assists in 69 appearances, contributing to the team’s victory in the Supercoppa Italiana this season.

However, despite his important role at the club, the global business development officer, Leonardo Giammarioli, has indicated they are open to selling the midfielder.

Regarding McTominay’s potential departure, as reported by talkSPORT, Giammarioli noted, “Yeah, of course I’m worried.”

He added, “But ultimately, especially Scott, who’s a very nice guy, we’re happy if he gets to the next level in a couple of years – maybe not now, maybe not next year, but he deserves it.”

“Look at Stuttgart; they wanted to keep Nick Woltemade, but when an offer comes in, there’s not much you can do if the player wants to leave and money is important.”

Giammarioli further explained, “It’s complicated for Serie A and our competitive clubs… the league is still facing revenue losses,” he stated.

“Of course, it’s hard to keep up with the other major leagues, but we’re trying to improve and be competitive.

“Keeping players is tough; it wasn’t easy to bring in guys like McTominay and Billy Gilmour – it’s even harder to retain them.

“We need to be strategic with our signings… every bit of money we spend must count.”
