Manchester United are performing better without Ruben Amorim as coach. Interim manager Michael Carrick, a former midfielder for the team, has given the club hope for a Champions League spot.
On the other hand, Amorim’s next opportunity may not even be with a top-tier European club. Reports from the Vasco da Gama outlet VDG-Cast suggest he is on the shortlist for the manager position at the Brazilian club.
What makes this situation surprising is that Amorim is not even the leading candidate for the role. He is reportedly second to Artur Jorge, a 78-year-old coach who has not managed a team in over a decade.
Former Manchester United coaches have not fared well after leaving Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag also struggled there and was dismissed shortly after joining Bayer Leverkusen due to poor tactics and management.
Amorim faced challenges at Manchester United and may be viewed by other clubs as overrated, relying on strong recruitment during his time at Sporting CP. His current interest from clubs seems to support this view.
