Tottenham plans to sell Guglielmo Vicario and sign a new goalkeeper this summer.
Guglielmo Vicario’s time at Tottenham Hotspur has not met expectations.
In over two years, he has not gained the trust of the fans. The Italian goalkeeper has struggled with consistency and reliability, leading to costly mistakes and lost points for the team. Recent reports suggest that Vicario is likely to leave Spurs this summer.
Vicario is reportedly open to a move to Inter Milan at the end of the season. Tottenham needs to find a new No.1 before the start of the 2026/27 season, and they might look to one of their London rivals for a replacement.
Tottenham interested in Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson
Former Spurs chief scout Mick Brown has indicated that Tottenham is considering Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Henderson has established himself as the No.1 at Crystal Palace after leaving Manchester United in 2023. He impressed during loans at Shrewsbury Town, Sheffield United, and Nottingham Forest, earning a permanent spot with Palace.
The four-time England international has been a steady presence for the Eagles. Despite competition from Walter Benitez and Sam Johnstone, Henderson has maintained his position and confidence. His strong performances have attracted Tottenham’s attention among other clubs.
“Tottenham is exploring several goalkeeper options. If they can finalize Vicario’s sale this summer, they will need to find a replacement who can enhance the team. Dean Henderson is one goalkeeper who has caught Tottenham’s eye,” Mick Brown told Football Insider.
“Since last season, he has significantly improved for Palace and has become a vital part of their success. He is now a top-class goalkeeper.”
“Being an England international also makes him attractive to a club like Tottenham.”
“From Crystal Palace’s perspective, they won’t want to lose him easily, especially since they have other challenges to face without replacing their captain.”
Henderson would be a great addition for Tottenham
Since Marc Guehi’s transfer to Manchester City, Henderson has taken on the captaincy at Palace. Despite this, the team has faced challenges recently. With manager Oliver Glasner announcing his exit, the futures of several players, including Henderson, may be uncertain amidst the turmoil at Selhurst Park.
While acquiring the English goalkeeper will be tough, if he considers leaving, Spurs should act quickly. He would be a clear upgrade over the mistake-prone Vicario, who is also linked with a move to Juventus. However, Tottenham’s ability to make a move may depend on their league status, as relegation remains a possibility.
