Manchester United and Manchester City are both interested in acquiring Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest this summer, as they see him as an important player for the future.

With Casemiro leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season, United’s main focus will be to reshape their midfield. This task is assigned to Christopher Vivell and Jason Wilcox.

Elliot Anderson stands out as an ideal candidate. He pairs well with Kobbie Mainoo, fitting Michael Carrick’s preferred setup.

Despite strong competition for Anderson, United is in a better position compared to the situation with Antoine Semenyo, where they missed out.

United missed out on Semenyo in January because of wage demands, but they are better positioned for Anderson.

According to Ben Jacobs from The United Stand, Anderson is not likely to prioritize money in his next move.

Jacobs stated, “He will make his next decision based on project, not finances.”

He added that Newcastle may enter the race if they lose Sandro Tonali, along with Chelsea and Manchester City, making the competition strong.

Newcastle’s chances are low due to financial constraints and their standing compared to other clubs.

If Manchester United goes after Tonali as some reports suggest, that may free up funds for Anderson. However, they might need both players.

Manchester United Must Act Quickly on Anderson

Anderson is expected to be one of the most discussed players as the transfer window approaches, similar to Matheus Cunha last summer.

United needs to finalize negotiations before the summer and the World Cup, as strong performances from Anderson could attract interest from clubs like PSG and Real Madrid.

To stay ahead, Ineos should aim to conclude the deal soon, allowing United to announce the signing of the English midfielder by June 1 and move forward with their plans.

If Anderson chooses another club, United must act quickly and explore other options.
