Ruben Amorim’s time at Manchester United ended following a series of poor performances and internal conflicts, with his final game resulting in a 1-1 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road.
The Portuguese manager was expected to secure qualification for a European tournament this season but managed to win only one of his last five matches in charge.
In contrast, Michael Carrick, appointed as caretaker manager for the rest of the season, has led the same team to six victories in seven games, with one match drawn.
Amid the reactions to Amorim’s exit from Old Trafford, Adelio Candido, one of his assistants, has shared insights about Manchester United and the reasons for Amorim’s struggles at the club.
In an interview with A Bola, Candido said, “I enjoyed the city of Manchester and the passion of the people for football, who focus more on the project than on immediate results.”
“However, I was less satisfied with the feeling that our ideas weren’t fully realized.”
Candido also discussed the youthfulness of Amorim’s coaching staff, asserting, “Being young helped us manage the pressure; we maintained a positive atmosphere at work.”
He added, “Under pressure, it’s common for people to become more irritable in a coaching team, but that wasn’t our experience.”
Regarding media and fan criticism, Candido remarked, “Honestly, I don’t follow opinions outside my work group. I do see some comments on social media, but I don’t pay much attention to that.”
Looking ahead, he shared, “I’m currently enjoying time with my family and not thinking too much about the future, but I know that when my phone rings, Ruben will reach out to me.”
Candido’s positive outlook may lead supporters to wonder about Ruben Amorim’s next steps and whether Adelio Candido will be involved.
