Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella has missed the last two matches due to a hamstring injury, but he is expected to return soon.
As Chelsea prepares for their match against Aston Villa on Wednesday, manager Liam Rosenior mentioned that they hope to have Cucurella back for the FA Cup match against Wrexham on Saturday, according to Absolute Chelsea:
“Cucu is looking really good; hopefully, we can get him involved for Saturday [if he isn’t available for Aston Villa]. Estevao is back on the pitch running, which is great.”
Jorrel Hato stepped in for Cucurella against Arsenal and performed well, making three tackles and three interceptions while effectively marking star player Bukayo Saka.
Hato has earned another start, allowing Chelsea to be cautious with Cucurella’s recovery and avoid any risk of aggravating the injury.
Cucurella has been performing well this season, contributing three assists and averaging 1.8 tackles per game while allowing only 0.6 dribbles completed per match.
Having him back for the Wrexham match is valuable, but using the FA Cup to ensure he is fully fit for the important Champions League match against PSG is a wise strategy.
