Red Bull New York has signed 17-year-old defender Matthew Dos Santos to a first-team contract as of Friday.
His contract will last until the end of the 2028-29 MLS season, with options for the 2029-30 and 2030-31 seasons.
Julian de Guzman, head of sport, stated, “We are very pleased to sign Matty to a first-team contract. He is a young player who has shown significant growth in our program and deserves this chance due to his dedication and performance. We believe Matty has the right mindset and potential to keep developing with us, and we look forward to supporting his next steps.”
Dos Santos played in the first two matches of the season on temporary contracts with the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate Red Bulls II, where he made one assist.
Head coach Michael Bradley commented, “Matty has worked hard every day to earn this opportunity. He demonstrates a strong willingness to learn, understands our expectations for his role, and possesses the character we value in this team.”
