• Paris Saint-Germain faced a surprising 3-1 loss against Monaco, leaving the Ligue 1 title race competitive.

  • Maghnes Akliouche and Aleksandr Golovin scored early for Monaco.

  • Folarin Balogun marked his 100th Ligue 1 appearance in this match.

The defeat gave Lens a chance to narrow the gap at the top of Ligue 1, with PSG unable to perform at their best at the Parc des Princes.

Monaco’s Akliouche and Golovin set the pace, while Bradley Barcola brought PSG closer, but Balogun secured Monaco’s victory in this 100th Ligue 1 clash between the teams.

Early on, Denis Zakaria missed a header, and Akliouche shot wide, while PSG’s Nuno Mendes also missed his chance. The visitors took the lead in the 27th minute when Zakaria intercepted a pass from Warren Zaire-Emery in the box, setting up Akliouche to finish neatly off the right post.

Monaco doubled their lead in the 55th minute with Golovin hitting the bottom-right corner from 18 yards. He nearly added another goal with a powerful shot that PSG’s Matvei Safonov managed to save.

Barcola had an attempt that went wide but then scored to pull PSG back into the match after a deflection off Jordan Teze. However, Balogun struck back just two minutes later with a long-range goal that redirected off Mendes, keeping Monaco ahead. PSG now sits just four points above Lens, having played one game more.
