Veron Mosengo Omba, the former general secretary of the Confederation of African Football, has officially declared his candidacy for the presidency of the Congolese Football Association. His decision comes amid extensive speculation regarding the upcoming leadership race.

Mosengo Omba formalized his candidacy on Tuesday, April 21, in Kinshasa, joining a roster of candidates vying for the position. His goal is to take charge of the governing body for football in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In the competitive race for the presidency, Mosengo Omba will face notable personalities including Shabani Nonda, a former Congolese striker and a prominent figure in the nation’s football scene, as well as Azis Makukula, among others.
