This season has been challenging for Manchester United as they have been eliminated from both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup early on.
In the Carabao Cup, they faced Grimsby Town and were defeated after a lengthy penalty shoot-out, marking the first time a fourth-tier team has eliminated them from a domestic cup.
After Ruben Amorim was dismissed, Darren Fletcher took charge, but United lost to Brighton in the FA Cup.
Despite these setbacks, Manchester United’s Under-16 team has won the Premier League Shield.
RedYouthUnited shared the news on X that United defeated Burnley 2-0 in the final, with goals from Silva Mexes and Jaume Carnacho.
This match also marked Alfie Walker’s final game for United, as he will join Leeds United this summer after nine years at Carrington.
Mexes is also likely to leave, with Leeds interested, but Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest are after him as well, making it his last trophy with the club.
However, there may be more trophies for United this season, as their Under-18 team is still competing in the FA Youth Cup.
A recent 3-2 victory over Sunderland’s Under-18 team on March 18, 2026, has put them into the Semi-Finals against Crystal Palace.
Should they win, a Manchester Derby final could be on the cards if Manchester City defeats Blackburn Rovers.
