Jamal Murray scored 53 points against Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, but his performance wasn’t the top highlight of the night. That honor went to Nikola Jokic, who recorded an impressive triple-double.
Jokic contributed significantly to the Nuggets’ 142-135 victory over Dallas at Ball Arena in Denver, posting 23 points, 21 rebounds, and 19 assists in 38 minutes. He finished just one assist shy of a historic 20-20-20 triple-double, leaving Flagg impressed with Jokic’s talent.
“I can learn a lot from him and how he reads the game. But I’m not sure if I can reach that level,” Flagg commented in the locker room, according to DNVR Nuggets.
“His ability to impact the game was incredible. At times, it seemed like he wasn’t even trying. Achieving a 20/20/20 is just remarkable, and it’s amazing to witness his influence on the game,” added the former Duke player.
Flagg also had a solid game, scoring 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting, along with 15 rebounds in 36 minutes. While it’s too soon to determine if he’ll match Jokic’s statistical achievements, the potential is evident for the Mavs rookie.
