U.S. Soccer and Chicago Fire FC have confirmed that the Club will play against Detroit City FC (USL Championship) in the Round of 32 of the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The match is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday, April 14, at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, Michigan. Fans can watch the game live on CBS Sports Golazo Network and Paramount+.

This will be the second consecutive year that Chicago faces Detroit City FC in the Round of 32. In 2025, Chicago won the match 4-0. Detroit reached the Round of 32 in 2026 after a 1-0 victory over the Flint City Bucks, with forward Alex Dalou scoring his second goal in two Open Cup matches, leading Detroit to three straight wins against the Bucks and their third trip to the Round of 32 in five years.
The Chicago Fire has a notable history in the U.S. Open Cup. With four championships (1998, 2000, 2003, and 2006), they are tied for the most titles by an MLS team. The Fire also holds records for the most wins and semifinal appearances in the annual tournament.
