CF Montreal is looking for a win as they head to New England to face the Revolution in Foxborough, Massachusetts, aiming for their second victory of the season.
Montreal (1-4-0, 3 points) has lost two matches straight after their first win of the season, a 3-0 victory against the New York Red Bulls on March 8.
“I think luck hasn’t been on our side,” said midfielder Olger Escobar, who has played four games this season. “There were matches where we performed well and deserved to win, but unfortunately, the results didn’t favor us.”
German forward Prince Owusu leads Montreal with four goals in five matches, while Wiki Carmona has contributed to five goals (three goals, two assists).
Last season, Montreal and New England each won one match away from home.
New England (1-3-0, 3 points) begins a three-match home stretch on Saturday and has a record of 9-6-2 at home against Montreal historically.
The Revolution understand that Montreal’s record doesn’t reflect their quality of play.
“They have a unique defensive style that presents different challenges,” said Revolution coach Marko Mitrovic.
“I expect it to be a long match—90 minutes—requiring our utmost focus.”
Defender Brayan Ceballos leads New England with two goals this season.
New England aims to stay unbeaten at home; they won their previous home match 6-1 against FC Cincinnati on March 15.
This Saturday marks the first of two matches between Montreal and New England, with the teams set to meet again in Canada on August 1.
