Referee’s mistake favored the Red Devils.

Refereeing errors continue to make headlines in this season’s English Premier League. In a significant incident, Howard Webb, the chief of PGMOL and a former FIFA referee, has formally apologized to Nottingham Forest for a refereeing mistake during their match against Manchester United on Matchweek 37.

The controversy arose in the 55th minute when Manchester United’s Matheus Cunha scored a goal to give his team a 2-1 lead. However, it was later revealed that referee Michael Salisbury should have disallowed the goal due to a handball by a Manchester United player. Salisbury’s failure to adequately review the incident allowed the goal to stand, influencing the match’s outcome.

As the match concluded, the scoreboard displayed a 3-1 victory for Manchester United. Frustrated representatives from Nottingham Forest sought a discussion with the referee, but their appeals were ignored.
