Ryan Giggs, the former Manchester United midfielder and club legend, is advocating for a major transfer this summer. In a recent interview on the YouTube channel Rio Ferdinand Presents, Giggs expressed his strong belief that Manchester United should pursue Chelsea’s star player, Cole Palmer.
According to Giggs, Palmer represents a significant opportunity to enhance the current United squad, as his playing style addresses the team’s ongoing need for creativity. He highlighted the potential fit for Palmer within the squad dynamics, particularly in light of Bruno Fernandes’ pivotal role.
“Palmer? Yes, he would fit, a Manchester lad.
Where would he play if Bruno was in the No. 10 role? Maybe he could play on the right. We talk about Højlund and Šeško, but really only Bruno is constantly creating.
But what if Bruno has an off day or gets injured?
You need three or four players in your team who can create chances, so those players can score goals,” said Giggs.
Cole Palmer, born in Manchester in 2002, developed through the Manchester City academy. A transfer to Manchester United would be particularly notable given his roots. While Palmer has previously stated that he does not miss home, he has not excluded the possibility of moving in the future. This season, he has made 28 appearances for Chelsea, netting 10 goals and providing 3 assists. His contract with the club extends until 2033, with a market value estimated at €110 million by Transfermarkt.
