Tottenham Struggles with ACL Injuries Amid Poor Home Record

ESPN UK recently highlighted Tottenham’s challenging 2025-26 season by revealing a troubling statistic: the club has recorded more players suffering from ACL injuries (3) than home wins in the Premier League (2).

What’s happening?

Wilson Odobert, Mohammed Kudus, and Xavi Simons have each sustained season-ending ACL tears. They add to a growing injury list that appears extensive. Tottenham’s home record now stands as one of the most dismal in the Premier League, trailing only relegated Sheffield Wednesday across all divisions in England.

Although the comparison between ACL injuries and home performance is not direct, it underscores two significant issues: a medical infrastructure struggling to properly manage elite athletes and a team lacking the psychological resilience to perform well in front of their home crowd.

Experiencing three ACL injuries in a single season is unusual. In contrast, title-contending Arsenal has seen none, and Manchester City, vying in four competitions, has also avoided such injuries. While teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle have had their share of injuries, none have faced this level of disruption. ACL tears are inherently rare, and enduring three in seven months raises concerns about either severe misfortune or systemic flaws in training load management, rehabilitation procedures, or pitch conditions.

With four matches remaining in the season, Tottenham faces two home fixtures against Leeds United and Leicester City. These opportunities provide a chance to improve their disappointing home record. However, the potential for further ACL injuries appears tied to factors that may be beyond the club’s control or its current capacity to manage.
