Manchester United are reportedly exploring an exchange deal involving Joshua Zirkzee and AC Milan star Rafael Leao.
The Premier League club aims to add a right-footed left-winger to their roster for the upcoming season. Their lack of options for this position was highlighted during Monday’s victory over Brentford.
With Matheus Cunha sidelined due to injury, the left-footed Amad Diallo was positioned on the left side, but looked ‘uncomfortable and ‘out of sorts’.
Man Utd Ready to Swap Joshua Zirkzee for Rafael Leao
In recent days, Juventus/”>Leao has emerged as a serious target for Manchester United, who reportedly scouted him during Sunday’s draw between Milan and Juventus at San Siro.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Red Devils are indeed interested in the Portuguese forward, though their primary target for the role remains Morgan Rogers.
The Italian newspaper notes that Aston Villa are asking for at least €100 million (£86m) to part ways with the England international, while Leao is available for around €50 million (£43m), which could be a significant bargain for a ‘magical’ player of his calibre.
While Milan prefers a cash-only transaction, reports suggest United will attempt to reduce the fee by offering Zirkzee as part of the deal.
The Dutchman remains a popular figure at Old Trafford; however, he has mostly been relegated to the bench under Carrick, making a summer exit increasingly likely.
