Premier League Clubs Compete for Marcos Senesi as Contract Expiration Approaches
Great centre-backs with an impressive all-round game are becoming increasingly hard to come by in the Premier League – and that’s why Marcos Senesi is in such great demand.
Manchester United’s rivals Liverpool have joined the race to sign the Argentine defender, according to Matteo Moretto on X.
Along with Liverpool, fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have shown an interest in pursuing Senesi, who is a man in demand.
As reported by Moretto at the start of April 2026, Manchester United were among the clubs in contact with Marcos Senesi’s representatives, who have been deciding on his next move, with his Bournemouth contract expiring in the summer.
The 28-year-old is in the prime of his career and is a key defender for AFC Bournemouth, but he seemingly feels the time is right to make the next step in his career.
Senesi is a reliable option at the back for the Cherries, having started 33 out of their 34 Premier League games this season—a level of consistency Manchester United could benefit from, following suspensions and injuries to defenders in recent weeks.
Since arriving in England in the summer of 2022, Senesi has amassed 124 appearances. He has had to wait for his opportunity, given the past presence of Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi at the Vitality; now, Senesi is truly taking his chance.
This is a move Manchester United should be seizing immediately. It’s not often that a defender as skilled as Senesi becomes available on a free transfer.
If the Red Devils are intent on signing a centre-back this summer, making Senesi their priority would be a smart strategy, allowing them to allocate funds for other positions—particularly in midfield.
