Harry Amass and two other young Manchester United players could earn first-team spots for the upcoming season, provided they make a strong impression during pre-season training.
This past season, coaches Ruben Amorim and Michael Carrick managed a relatively small squad, largely due to the absence of European competitions.
While Carrick achieved results with limited personnel, management is expected to address the squad’s shortcomings this summer.
Harry Amass & two others set to join United’s pre-season
Manchester United plans to recruit several new players this summer, with a particular focus on strengthening the midfield and possibly enhancing the left flank.
However, INEOS may also consider internal options should the head coach, likely Carrick, need additional depth. This is especially pertinent as the club aims for a deep run in domestic competitions, potentially extending the season to 60 matches or more.
According to journalist Chris McKenna from The Athletic, three players on loan could rejoin the senior squad once their loan spells end.
The report discusses the situation of all loaned-out Manchester United players. McKenna suggests that Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, Andre Onana, and Jadon Sancho might not have futures at Carrington, regardless of their current club situations.
Conversely, Harry Amass, Toby Collyer, and Radek Vitek may receive opportunities for pre-season training, aiming to secure spots in the senior squad.
Will Amass, Collyer & Vitek earn a place at Man Utd?
At just 19 years old, left-back Harry Amass made his senior debut last season and was loaned to Sheffield Wednesday in August, where he quickly became a standout player.
He earned back-to-back Player of the Month awards, a fact he proudly shared in a social media post amid his manager Amorim’s comments about ‘struggling’ academy talents. However, those remarks likely reflected the team’s broader struggles instead of Amass’s performance.
Given Sheffield’s difficult circumstances, Manchester United opted to end Amass’s loan early and loan him to Norwich in January. Unfortunately, he suffered a serious injury that curtailed his season.
With Luke Shaw in need of a reliable backup for the upcoming season, Amass could be a cost-effective option.
Similar to Amass, Toby Collyer played for two clubs this past season, starting at West Brom before transferring to Hull City. The 22-year-old also made his senior debut for Manchester United last season and notably moved ahead of Casemiro in Amorim’s selection at one point before facing injury issues.
As Manchester United plans to revamp their midfield, several opportunities will be available. A strong showing this pre-season could earn the Worthing native a senior role.
| Man Utd Loanee | Age | Position | Loan Spell in 25/26 | Appearances |
| Harry Amass | 19 | Left-back | Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich | 22 |
| Toby Collyer | 22 | Central midfielder | West Brom, Hull City | 17 |
| Radek Vitek | 22 | Goalkeeper | Bristol City | 41 |
Finally, Radek Vitek has been a standout among Manchester United’s loaned-out players this season, dominating Bristol City’s end-of-season awards. The 22-year-old goalkeeper is eager for a more prominent role, but United’s management may opt to have him serve as a backup to Senne Lammens, especially if they decide to sell Altay Bayindir.
