Guglielmo Vicario Continues Recovery as Tottenham Hotspur Eyes Third Consecutive Win

Tottenham Hotspur has made notable progress in its bid for Premier League survival, achieving back-to-back victories under manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Spurs secured a 2-1 win against Aston Villa last weekend at Villa Park, with goals from Conor Gallagher and Richarlison. This victory has propelled them above West Ham into 17th place in the Premier League standings. However, with West Ham trailing by just two points, the team must remain vigilant.

Next week’s home match against Leeds United offers Tottenham a valuable chance to build on their recent success and widen the gap over their London rivals. De Zerbi and his team should be cautious, as Leeds arrives with 11 points from their last five matches, including a significant win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in April.

Roberto De Zerbi Offers Fitness Update on Guglielmo Vicario

As the next game approaches, De Zerbi is facing some injury challenges.

James Maddison may find himself on the bench again, and Guglielmo Vicario remains out as he recovers from hernia surgery. After the Wolves match, De Zerbi indicated that Vicario would return to training, but that has not yet happened, leading to his absence against Aston Villa.

Since his hernia surgery during the March international break, the Tottenham goalkeeper has sat out the last four games. De Zerbi provided an update on Vicario’s condition.

“No, Vicario is not ready yet. I don’t know what will be the plan but he’s suffering because he would like to help his teammates, but he’s not available yet,” De Zerbi stated in his press conference (h/t Football London).

Vicario’s absence has not been severely felt, as Antonin Kinsky has stepped in admirably. Kinsky has showcased composure, reliability, and resilience, overcoming a previous challenging Champions League debut to deliver solid performances that support the team’s survival efforts.

With Vicario still unavailable, Kinsky is set to start in goal for Tottenham against Leeds United on Monday evening. Fans are optimistic for another strong performance from the in-form Czech goalkeeper as the Lilywhites aim for their third consecutive victory.
