Celtic is monitoring Falkirk striker Barney Stewart as they aim to strengthen their attacking options for the 2026/27 season. According to Pete O’Rourke, the 22-year-old is firmly on their radar ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Celtic Eyes Falkirk Star Barney Stewart for Summer Signing

The Bhoys are seeking new forwards this summer, with Stewart included among several domestic targets. Other players of interest include Motherwell’s Tawanda Maswanhise and Hearts youngster Claudio Braga. Stewart has excelled in Falkirk’s first year back in the Premiership, attracting attention from several Scottish clubs, as well as interest from EFL teams.

With eight goals from 16 league starts, he stands out as one of the most efficient strikers in the league. His conversion rate of 20.5% surpasses Celtic’s Daizen Maeda, who currently holds a 16.1% rate. Beyond the scoring, Stewart averages 1.08 shots on target per 90 minutes, slightly ahead of Maeda’s 1.02.

He has played a crucial role in helping Falkirk achieve a top-half finish in their first season in the top flight in years, indicating Celtic’s strong interest. As a Scotland Under-21 international with significant growth potential, Stewart fits the profile the club typically seeks: young, ambitious, and already established within Scottish football.
