Manchester United Secures Champions League Spot as Bruno Fernandes Breaks Record
Manchester United is closing out the 2025/26 season with a confirmed place in next year’s Champions League. The club is poised to finish third in the Premier League under caretaker manager Michael Carrick, marking a significant recovery from last season’s 15th-place finish.
While the club has yet to appoint a permanent manager, Carrick appears to be the frontrunner for the position.
In an impressive display, Bruno Fernandes has had a record-breaking season, surpassing David Beckham’s long-standing record for most assists in a single season. His performance has led to expectations of being named in the Team of the Season for 2025/26, though he is not the only star making headlines at Old Trafford.
Jess Park from the Manchester United Women’s team has earned a nomination for Player of the Season in the Barclays Women’s Super League following an outstanding debut campaign. The league recently announced the eight nominees on X, seeking votes for the award.
The England international’s nomination follows her transfer from rivals Manchester City, where she made 37 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing five assists. Alongside Park, Manchester City’s Kerstin Casparij and Khadija Shaw, Arsenal’s Alessia Russo, and Aston Villa’s Kirsty Hanson also received nominations. The list rounds out with Everton’s Ruby Mace and Chelsea’s Alyssa Thompson.
