Alan Brazil Updates Fans on His Health After ‘Life-Saving’ Surgery

Manchester United has seen several former players remain heavily involved in football after retirement, whether through coaching, media work, or punditry.

The club’s ex-stars regularly continue building high-profile careers away from the pitch long after leaving Old Trafford.

Recently, concerns also emerged regarding Sir Alex Ferguson after the legendary former manager was Liverpool-game/”>rushed to hospital during Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Liverpool.

However, it was later described as a precautionary measure.

Now, another former Manchester United figure has issued an important health update.

According to The Sun, a former United striker recently underwent what he described as a ‘life-saving’ operation.

The ex-forward had been absent from his regular duties on talkSPORT in recent weeks, leading many listeners to question his whereabouts.

It has now been confirmed that the former player in question is Alan Brazil.

Brazil shared an update on social media where he thanked the medical staff involved in his treatment while confirming that his recovery remains ongoing.

“Some of you will have noticed that I’ve not been around,” he wrote.

“I recently had a life-saving operation and I’m deeply grateful to the brilliant medical team who have looked after me.”

The former striker also explained that it will still take time before he fully returns.

Brazil enjoyed a lengthy football career before becoming one of the best-known voices in British sports radio.

During his playing days, he represented clubs including Ipswich Town, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United.

The Scottish forward joined United in 1984 and scored 16 goals during his spell at Old Trafford.

That came despite struggling with recurring back injuries throughout his career.

Those injury problems ultimately forced him into an early retirement from football.

After retiring, Brazil moved into broadcasting and became one of the most recognizable figures on talkSPORT.

He has been hosting the station’s breakfast programme for more than 25 years.

Many figures from across football and media have already sent messages of support following his health update.

Fans will now hope the former Manchester United striker can make a full recovery in the coming months.
