Nuno Santos, the Portuguese midfielder for Mamelodi Sundowns, has shifted his focus away from the Betway Premiership as the team prepares for an important match. Sundowns are set to face ASFAR of Morocco in the CAF Champions League first leg final this Sunday afternoon at Loftus Versveld.
This change in focus follows Sundowns’ recent 3-2 defeat to TS Galaxy in a PSL match, which has impacted their position in the league and allowed Orlando Pirates to take control of the Betway Premiership standings. Santos emphasized that the phrase “Betway Premiership” is not part of Sundowns’ current discussions.
“We are top of the log right now, that’s what we know — but as I said before, we cannot change what happened before, so our focus is totally on the Champions League,” Santos stated during a press briefing at the team’s training base in Chloorkop. He reiterated the team’s dedication to winning the trophy to bring joy to their fans.
Santos acknowledged the challenges each match presents, asserting that the squad is fully committed to the upcoming Champions League final. The match at Loftus Versveld is scheduled to start at 4 PM.
