Napoli Completes Transfer for Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United

Following Napoli’s qualification for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League, the Italian club has decided to pursue their option to sign striker Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United.

The Parthenopeans will fork out €44 million (£38.4m) to sign the Manchester United loanee, who struggled during his time in England.

Hojlund took to Instagram on Sunday following his club’s UCL qualification, to bid farewell to United, posting, “I’m now officially a Napoli player and I’m saying goodbye to Manchester United.

The Danish centre forward has managed 11 goals and 5 assists in 32 Serie A appearances for Napoli since his arrival in September 2025. He managed two contributions in the club’s game against Pisa, which saw Napoli qualify for the Champions League.

It’s a permanent move that has been lined up for some time; Giovanni Manna, Napoli’s Sporting Director, earlier confirmed in March that “Rasmus Hojlund will stay” at the club beyond the end of the 2025/26 season.

For all parties, it’s a move that will feel worthwhile. United have recouped a good transfer fee, despite originally spending £72m to acquire the Dane’s services, and Napoli have brought in their new marquee signing before pre-season even gets underway.

In 95 matches for Manchester United, Hojlund scored just 26 goals – this transfer was one that was vitally necessary for a fresh start.
