Bayern Munich has taken a firm stance regarding the participation of their defender Alphonso Davies in the upcoming World Cup. The club has announced that it will not permit either the player or the Canadian Football Federation to independently determine his readiness for the tournament.

Details: The decision stems from a scandalous incident that occurred in March 2025, where an incorrect diagnosis by national team doctors regarding an ACL injury nearly jeopardized Davies’ career. As a result, Bayern’s mistrust has intensified, prompting the club to set strict conditions on the matter.

The management of the German powerhouse has stipulated that the recovery process and any final decision regarding Davies’ clearance to play must be managed exclusively by the club’s medical staff. Bayern is confident that only their specialists possess the necessary expertise to ensure the player’s safety.

Following last year’s diagnostic fiasco in Canada, the Munich club is no longer willing to risk their valuable asset for the sake of national team interests.
