The title race in Cameroon’s Elite One has taken an unexpected turn as the leaders face a significant setback. Unisport Bafang, who had been enjoying an unbeaten streak over their last ten league matches, experienced a heavy defeat on 17 May during matchday 19.
In a challenging away game at the Bamenda 1 local stadium, Unisport was decisively outplayed by PWD Bamenda. The match shifted dramatically in the 7th minute when Unisport received a red card, putting them at a disadvantage for the remainder of the game. Key contributions from Junior Nguimbat, Agbor Eyong, Boris Kache, Elwood Talikong, and Ndonwie Fielding secured a comfortable victory for Bamenda.
This win marks PWD Bamenda’s second consecutive league victory since 15 February, further intensifying the competition at the top of the league table.
