Mamelodi Sundowns’ preparations for the Caf Champions League second leg final have encountered a significant setback. The South African team, scheduled to depart for Morocco today, experienced an eight-hour delay at OR Tambo International Airport.
The disruption was caused by the denial of a landing permit for their chartered flight by Moroccan authorities. As a result, the team has now adjusted their travel plans and intends to fly to Rabat tomorrow.
Sundowns are set to contest the second leg match in North Africa on Sunday, following their 1-0 victory against ASFAR at home last Sunday. The team’s departure from South Africa is contingent upon receiving the necessary approval for their private chartered flight to land in Morocco.
