Tottenham Faces Relegation Threat Amid Criticism and Managerial Instability

There’s widespread discontent surrounding Tottenham Hotspur, and the reasons are clear. BBC’s Phil McNulty highlighted the club’s struggles this morning.

“…if Spurs do drop into the Championship on Sunday it will not be because of one incident after a campaign of discord, instability and rank incompetence on and off the pitch.”

A defeat against Everton, coupled with a win for West Ham, could lead to one of the most significant embarrassments in Premier League history.

ENIC, the ownership group of Tottenham Hotspur, is ultimately responsible for the club’s precarious position in the 2025-26 Premier League season, where the team finds itself battling relegation and making unsettling history.

Fans and analysts largely blame ENIC, along with previous management led by Levy, for strategic missteps that have contributed to this downfall.

Another contributing factor is the ongoing managerial instability. Since Mauricio Pochettino’s departure in 2019, the club has seen multiple coaching changes—at least six, including Ange Postecoglou, who won the Europa League but departed with the team in a weak position, Frank, who was sacked, Igor Tudor, who had a brief winless stint, and currently Roberto De Zerbi. This string of changes has led to a lack of consistency.

As Tottenham edges closer to relegation, the situation continues to worsen. Jamie Redknapp has indicated that he believes Everton manager David Moyes will be eager to challenge Tottenham in their upcoming match.

“[Tottenham] are sleepwalking towards relegation. I said it earlier this season, the only thing that’s saved them is a couple of good results.

“When I say good, they beat Wolves, and they beat an Aston Villa side who had seven players out at the time.

“Now they’ve got to find a way to win a game at home. Their home form has been horrendous all season. They’ve had no quality and no character to win a football match.

Now they’ve got to find a way to beat Everton. David Moyes will be fuming after the weekend and he’ll be going there thinking, ‘We’ve got to get something out of this game.’

Regardless of the outcome, there is a growing call for accountability from ENIC.
