Brentford Intensifies Bid for Young Winger Said El Mala Amid Growing Interest
Manchester United’s recruitment team is actively scouting several young attacking talents across Europe as clubs prepare for what may be another busy summer transfer window.
The Premier League team has been tracking a number of emerging forwards, particularly those who can play effectively on the wing.
Said El Mala has caught United’s attention, but competition for his signature is heating up.
According to the Bundesliga-star-Germany.html” rel=”noopener”>Daily Mail, Brentford has ramped up its efforts to sign the 1. FC Koln winger and is preparing to initiate talks to outpace rival clubs interested in the young talent.
The London club is believed to have closely observed El Mala during FC Koln’s recent match against Bayern Munich, where he delivered another impressive performance by scoring a goal.
Brentford aims to act swiftly before interest grows, especially with rising expectations that the winger could soon join the senior Germany national team.
El Mala has had a standout season and is reportedly in the running for a spot in Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany squad for the upcoming World Cup, with an official announcement due on Thursday.
Manchester United has also had its sights set on the winger in recent months, with scouts continuing to monitor highly-rated young players across Europe.
The attacker’s future has become a hot topic following his comments last month about uncertainty regarding his next move.
“I feel at home here, but I can’t predict the future,” he stated.
“We’ve had open and honest talks with Thomas Kessler, and we both know there are a few crucial matches left for the club.
“When the time comes, something will be sorted.”
Additionally, El Mala has recently parted ways with his long-time agent, Martin Camona, known for his strong connections in the Premier League.
The winger officially signed with 1. FC Koln on July 1, 2024, after transferring from rivals Viktoria Koln. However, due to a transfer ban involving FC Koln, El Mala spent the 2024/25 season back on loan with Viktoria Koln before completing his permanent transition to FC Koln’s squad for the following campaign.
Now, after a breakout year that has garnered attention from the Premier League and international arenas, Brentford seeks to act decisively.
