New York City FC Midfielder Maxi Moralez to Undergo Season-Ending Knee Surgery

New York City FC has announced that midfielder Maxi Moralez will undergo season-ending surgery for a torn left ACL. The announcement came on Thursday.

Moralez, 39, suffered the non-contact injury in the first half of Saturday’s 1-1 away draw against the New York Red Bulls in Harrison, N.J.

The Argentine player is set to have the surgery in the coming weeks at Montefiore Einstein Medical Center in New York.

This season marks Moralez’s 10th with NYCFC, during which he has recorded one goal and six assists across 14 MLS matches, all of which he started. In his career, he has tallied 30 goals and 91 assists in 231 games, with 210 of those being starts.

Additionally, New York City FC reported that defender Kevin O’Toole successfully underwent surgery last week for issues with his groin and abdomen.

O’Toole, 27, has contributed one assist in 10 starts this season. Since his MLS debut with NYCFC in 2022, he has notched two goals and four assists in 90 matches, with 75 starts to his name.
