Sterling has the support of the coaching staff.
Raheem Sterling continues to aspire to rejuvenate his football career. The head coach of Dutch side Feyenoord, Robin van Persie, recently addressed critics targeting the 31-year-old English midfielder, who has experienced difficulty securing a regular position within the squad.
Van Persie expressed disapproval of the negative perceptions surrounding Sterling, emphasizing that such treatment is unwarranted. In his statement, he said:
“I am concerned about the cynical attitude people have toward Raheem Sterling. Show some respect! I don’t like the way people have been treating him lately! Know your place!
This man has scored around 200 goals in England and played 82 matches for the national team. If you have an opinion about his current performances, fine… but the way he is being treated now is UNACCEPTABLE.
Tonight, I will have dinner with him and reflect together.” van Persie said.
Since joining Feyenoord as a free agent in February, following the expiration of his contract with Chelsea, Sterling has made only 8 appearances for the club, contributing 1 assist. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with his market value currently estimated at 5 million euros by Transfermarkt.
